Fit Right Northwest Running & Walking Store is presenting their 4th Annual Lacamas Lake 10-mile/5k Walk & Run on Sunday, May 20th, 2007! This year’s event is shaping up to be our biggest event ever. Nautilus is the title sponsor this year and they will be giving away a treadmill to one lucky participant. They are just one of many sponsors that will be onsite and providing discount coupons for products and services for all race participants.

This course is now Baby Jogger Friendly. Therefore, please sign up and walk and run this beautiful course with your little munchkins!!

If you haven’t participated in this event before, then you are in for a real treat! This event has been praised for its level of organization and beautiful scenery! The races start and finish at Camas High School, which is only ~25 minutes from Downtown Portland. This venue provides an amazing atmosphere to hold the “expo” portion of the event with it’s forested background and overlooking view of Lacamas Lake!

The race course begins on Camas High’s Track and runs around the north shore of Lacamas Lake along country roads. As the race works its way to the west end of the lake, the course flows onto a hard compact dirt trail. Along this trail you will have forest around you for a brief period, along the south shore you will run right along the lake taking in gorgeous views of Mt. Hood! This mostly flat course with a few rolling hills is a local favorite!

Parents! Don’t forget to bring your kids. Our kid 1k has doubled in size every year helping to make our Lacamas Lake Event a family affair!

This beneficiary for this event is the Clark County Parks Foundation. This non-profit organization serves to provide resources in support of parks, trails and recreational opportunities throughout Clark County.

ultima

Ultima Replenisher Sports Drink - If you believe most sports drinks have too much sugar... we agree. Ultima Replenisher is a balanced electrolyte drink with zero sugar. It contains a full compliment of the macro-essential electrolytes calcium, chloride, magnesium, potassium and sodium (but not too much sodium), as well as the micro-essential electrolytes selenium, zinc and phosphorus. It also contains complex carbs for energy, water-soluble vitamins for day-to-day health maintenance, and antioxidants to protect the body from toxins. It is "no-phiz" and easy on the stomach, great for kids, athletes, celiacs, diabetics, seniors, yogis, moms, dads.... Everyone. Ultima contains no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners as well as no stimulants or MSG and is 100% vegan and gluten free.  Ultima will be providing a packet of Ultima for the goodie bags

Ultima will be the Official on-course Electrolyte drink-- Look for the Ultima cups on course.

gleukos

Gleukos - We will be supporting the event with gleukos for the aid stations and finish line as well as providing a single serve packet for each goody bag.

Most sports drinks are sufficient at hydrating and replacing electrolytes (mainly with sodium) but do little, if anything, to increase performance by providing fuel to the muscles (carbs). Glucose is the body's natural form of sugar. Anything you eat (fats, proteins or other types of carbs) have to be
digested to produce glucose which is the only fuel for all cellular and muscle structure in your body. Because Gleukos is made from glucose, it doesn't have to be digested by the system and goes straight to work in the blood stream. The result is faster more efficient fueling without stomach issues that typically result from consuming too much fructose or sucrose (carbs in most other sports drinks) Additionally, Gleukos uses potassium as the primary mineral (about 3x) to replace electrolytes vs. sodium. Generally, people receive an excessive amount of sodium and insufficient amounts of potassium in their daily diets. Sports drinks tend to be too salty and contain much more salt than is really needed. We use about 1/3 the sodium and feel it's the optimal electrolytic balance... The end result is a much more effective performance drink that is more refreshing (doesn't have the super sweet sticky after taste and feel) so athletes will drink more.

For raffle prizes we will include 4 small cans of Kiwi-Strawberry, our newest flavor!

Evan Pilchik photography will bring out a team of 3-4 photographers to cover the 10 miler and the 5K.  They will be spread out throughout the course for optimum photos.  This means they will scout for a good background and good light to insure the runners’ faces are properly lit.
